The Federal Government on Saturday said of the 1,735,720 students that registered for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, only 520,000 will gain admission.
Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai said, “The major challenge is a country like Nigeria having 1.7 million sitting for examination. The space we have is 520,000 for federal, states, private universities, polytechnics and colleges of education.
“If one million passed, what are we going to do with the rest 500,000? We will not expand the carrying capacity without expanding the facilities.
“What are we going to do with the large number of students out there? I feel the pain. Mr. President is very much concerned.
NIGERIANS HEAR WHAT THE MINISTER FOR EDUCATION SAID OPENLY: 1.7MILLION CANDIDATES SAT FOR JAMB BOTH THE SPACES AVAILABLE FOR FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES, STATE UNIVERSITIES, PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES, POLYTECHNICS AND COLLEGES OF EDUCATION ALL TOGETHER IS 520, 000. MEANING IF ONE MILLION CANDIDATES PASSES THE EXAMINATION 480,000 STUDENTS WILL BE DISPLACED BECAUSE THEIR IS NO SPACE NO FACILITY AVAILABLE FOR THEM.
SHE FURTHER SAID THE PRESIDENT FEELS CONCERNED.
NIGERIANS WHERE ARE YOU!!!
PARENTS WHERE ARE YOU!!!
THIS PEOPLE ALREADY HAS DECIDED THE FATE OF OUR CHILDREN, OUR BROTHERS AND OUR SISTERS.
What happened to the billions they talk about everyday. Last week President GOODLUCK awarded 5.7billion Naira for post election violence of 2011. We all know the money was only paid out in the name of post election violence but will not be used for the purpose. Maybe kept for the coming election.
